EUGENE, Ore. — Thousands of people celebrate gay pride Saturday at the 23rd Eugene Pride Fest.
The festival featured live music, food vendors, and even free HIV testing. Organizers said this has been a very exciting year for same sex couples now that the marriage ban in Oregon has been lifted.
But while one group is getting more attention, organizers said they’re hoping people can learn about issues transgendered people face.
“I think that the transgender issues do get kind of put on the back burner sometimes. So I was really glad that Brad Avakian came and talked about you know making sure that everyone has rights including transgender rights,” said Paul Homan, Eugene Pride Day spokesperson.
Admission to the festival was free, but organizers did ask for donations.
